'00 PRESIDENT's CORNER

The next two meetings are probably the most important of the year and I strongly encourage all to attend. At our meeting on October 18, 2000 nominations will be accepted for club officers for next year; also, a preliminary event schedule for 2001 will be presented and amended as desired by a majority of club members in attendance. At the November 15, 2000 meeting final nominations will be accepted for club officers following which an election will be held to choose a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer for 2001. In addition, the event schedule for 2001, as finalized in the previous meeting, will be accepted by club vote. If you want to have a say on who is in charge and what is on the event schedule for 2001 you need to attend the next two meetings.
An important reminder. Starting January 1, 2001 you must have your AMA and Club membership cards for 2001 in order to use the flying field. This change was made to the club bylaws this year. So . . . if you want to continue flying after December 31, 2000 please pay your AMA and Club membership dues ASAP. A new lock combination for 2001 will be issued in the December newsletter to all who have paid their 2001 club membership dues. Remember that Clee Childress cannot issue you a Club membership card until your AMA membership for 2001 is verified. The AMA sent out their 2001 membership renewal notices several weeks ago, so, please, don’t procrastinate.
Finally, a big thanks to John Hanson, who took the lead for the Final Fling Fun Fly held October 14, 2000; also, thanks to all who helped John with the event. The weather finally cooperated and a great time was had by the eighteen participants. Congratulations to Ryan Phipps and Brett Bowen who captured 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the event! It’s great to see our younger club members win some of the prizes.
