2000 PRESIDENT's CORNER
By Ron Gibby
Please attend our next club meeting on November 16, 2000 and vote for club officers for 2001. The following club members have been nominated for the respective offices:
President: Gordon Anderson
Vice President: Jerry Wallis and Dave Phipps
Secretary: Doug Larson
Treasurer: Rick Magnuson
Nominations will still be accepted at the meeting prior to the election. The new officers need to know they have your support through your vote.
We now have electricity at the field! Thank you, Dennis Cone and Terry Hane! They completed the installation last month. The power panel is located on the left side of the main gate as you enter the field. Currently, the panel is wrapped in plastic to protect it from the sprinklers (although the panel is weatherproof it is not sprinkler proof). The longer range plan is to cover the panel with an inverted plastic barrel (for sprinkler protection) that can be easily removed when the power panel is to be used.
If you’ve been to the field lately, you have noticed that the frequency board has been moved to the right side of the main gate and there is a big pile of lumber just inside the gate. At the last meeting Terry Hane received club approval to purchase materials for construction of a permanent wooden sun shelter where our Costco awning used to be located. Work has already begun and will continue over the next month. When Terry gets his construction schedule in place, you may receive a call from a club officer for some help. I hope you will volunteer if asked.
Remember, starting January 1, 2001 you must have your AMA and Club membership cards for 2001 in order to use the club flying field. A new lock combination for 2001 will be issued in the December newsletter to all who have paid their 2001 AMA/Club membership dues.
We had our best turn out of the year at the last meeting; let’s have a repeat this month.

Until next month, happy flying.
