PRESIDENT's CORNER

At our meeting in February we discussed and approved two new Club membership types: Emeritus and Senior. We also approved reduced Club membership dues for Senior members and free club membership for Emeritus members, the Club President, the Club Treasurer, and the Club Newsletter Editor. These and other approved changes require that the Club By-Laws be formally changed. The proposed changes to the By-Laws are included in this issue of The Leading Edge for your review. They will be approved at our next meeting. If you have comments concerning the wording or content of the proposed changes please present them at the meeting.

If you’ve been out to the ORV Park field recently you may have noticed the new railroad ties and gravel in the parking area. This is the work of Terry Hane. Thanks Terry, we really appreciate all the volunteer work you do for the Club. We’re hoping that Terry’s efforts will help reduce erosion problems caused by the wind along the south fence. Thanks also to Paul Beebe and John Hanson. Paul got a good start on cutting the grass and weeds away from the fence at the ORV park site before his weed whacker gave up the ghost; and John has been busy at the Finley field, doing repairs and getting it ready for the flying season. We hope to get started soon on construction of our storage shed at the ORV Park. It will be used to house Club site maintenance equipment (lawn mowers, etc.). If you are asked to help please willingly accept. It’s fun to spend a few hours working along side your flying buddies and it also minimizes the time required to get the job done.

It was great to see Frank Hirsch at the field again. You can’t keep a good man down. Frank, we all hope to see you flying again soon.
