APRIL
'01 PRESIDENT's CORNER
By Gordon Anderson
| I
would like to start by thanking Bill Bowen and his committee to updating
the five-year pan. This plan is an excellent tool to set our club
development goals. You can read the details by clicking

I overlooked one of the most important things to remember when we are flying our models, frequency control! There are lots of new things to remember for the new pilots and students, so it is a good idea for the old timers to help coach the new guys. We are looking in to placing a sign on the safety fence to remind us all about the need to use the frequency pin. Lets review its use: |
1. Before you turn on your transmitter, go to the frequency pin box and remove your frequency pin and place your membership card in the slot behind the pin. If you do not have your card, use your AMA card.
2. Only turn your transmitter on when you have the pin. No Exceptions!
3. Place the pin on your antenna, this will give you a good visual cue that you are good-to-go.
4. After you are finished with your flight, make sure your transmitter is off and put the pin back in the box and collect your card.
Thatıs it, pretty simple but easy to forget when you are getting started. Lots of us like to hang on to the clip if its not busy at the field, but it is good to form the habit of putting the flag away when you are done flying.
The helicopter issue was not resolved at the last club meeting and Iım going to work with a couple of the helicopter pilots and propose a rule amendment at the next meeting, so make sure you come and voice your option.
We will have a few work parties at the field this year to implement the goals defined in our five-year plan. I would appreciate your support on these efforts.
Lots of great flying opportunities at the field last month. Iım getting pretty comfortable flying my Boxer! Iım even starting to practice the intermediate routine. Not sure if I will have it mastered in time for the first contest, but Iım working on it!
Bring one of your winter projects to the club meeting for show and tell, or to the field to fly or just show off! I hope to see you enjoying our fantastic field!
