TCRCM 1998
Pattern Contest Report
by Dennis Cone
(Ed. Note: My apologies to Dennis for not including this in last months issue even though I received it in time...)
The contest was held September 19th and 20th at the ORV flying field. We had a good turnout this year with 25 contestants. The weather was pretty good but not perfect with some wind and rain but not enough to ground the contest. We had two club members take trophies with Bill Bowen taking third in Advanced and Brett Bowen taking First in Novice. Congratulations Bill and Brett. The rest of us did not fare so well. Just need more practice. I would like to see more club members participate in pattern. It is not hard to do, it is a lot of fun and the pattern community are nice people. Any one interested in learning how to fly pattern can contact myself or any of the pattern flyers and we would be glad to show you how.
I would like to thank Bill Greger and Debby Bowen for cooking the lunches at the field both Saturday and Sunday. Thanks to Ron Shaver for running the Transmitter impound Saturday. My daughter Wendy ran the computer scoring program, very essential for this type of competition. I would like to thank my wife Linda for all her work buying the food and preparing it for the dinner Saturday night. She does this every year, preparing a meal most contestants and their families look forward to. Very special lady. That's about it for this year, so until Fun in the Sun 99 Ill see you at the field.
