SEPT. 2004 MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson

Mid-Columbia Library, Room A
Wednesday, 09/15/2004

The September meeting was called to order by President Dennis Cone at the Mid-Columbia Library on Wednesday Sept 15, at 7:02PM There were no visitors or new members. There were 9 members present.

The Treasurer, Fred Fisher, reported that we have $1254 in checking, $5,761 in CD for the Lawn Mower Fund, and a $5002.5 Money Market Fund.

The minutes of the August meeting were approved as published in the club newsletter. The newsletter article, so expertly done by Bill Bowen, relative to field layout, designated areas for pitt use and engine testing was discussed. There was discussion about signage at the field to enhance safety. ASA sketch may be prepared and published in the newsletter showing the designated areas.

Members are asked to not use the picnic tables for fueling or running of engines. The fuel spills and oil deposition have begun to deteriorate the protective coating on the tables which belong to the city.

An ORV Park advisory committee was formed some time ago and Dennis Cone participates as the Vice Chairman. Dan Penwell is the Committee Chairman. The committee is a representation of occupants or organizations who use the ORV Park. There is a general complaint by all participants about insufficient water. The city recognizes the problem and is proposing a fix.

The fix involves using the large irrigation import line to fill a storage pond which can be done at low pressure and then replumbing the booster pump to use the pond as it’s sole water source. This is estimated to cost $15,000 so it is not going to be done tomorrow…maybe later.

Dan Penwell performed a useful service for TCRCM inthat he logged GPS coordinates for our field which is required by AMA to recharter.

There was considerable discussion about field mowing, especially the overfly area which is a tough thicket of grass. Mower replacement was discussed and some recommendations were made by club members…no conclusion or action items. It was established, though, that the overfly area needs to be mowed more frequently but the time to cover that with the mower we have is extensive and discourages the accomplishment of the task. Dennis is going to try to commandeer the brush hog at the park to do the job.

A fun fly may be planned for October, especially if someone volunteers to head it up.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.
