MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson
President Gordon Anderson called the monthly meeting of the Tri-City R/C Modelers Club to order at 1900 hours. The minutes of the previous meeting, as published in the "Leading Edge" club newsletter were approved as published. Rich Magnuson presented a treasurer report. Club membership is 83.
Field Report
The mowing season has officially ended although there may be some grass cutting
if needed. The irrigation water will be off for the remainder of the year.
Sanitary water will be turned off soon so bring your own drinking water when you
come to the field. The runway turf will be rolled in the coming spring before
the water starts. One late application of fertilizer will be done by Dave
Phipps, the greens keeper, to help the grass get through the winter. A carpet
rack was installed recently to organize our flying carpets and keep them out of
the irritation water. A second coat of sealer is needing to be applied to the
shade structure before winter. Heavy duty owl was put in place a few weeks ago
to keep the pigeons from taking up residence, seems to be working.
Event Report
The final fling fun fly was well attended with a number of fun, though risky,
events. Two airplanes tried to fly through the same spatial coordinate at the
same time, one of them didn't fare too well. Bye bye Kaos. Food was good.
New Business
Nominations for 2002 officers, present nominations are for a repeat of the
incumbents except VP. Jerry Wallis has served two or more terms as VP and wishes
to retire. Dave Phipps was nominated for VP. Nominations are still open because
there weren't enough members present at the meeting to make a vote. The annual
banquet is tentatively set for Jan 12, 2002, location is yet to be determined.
Northwest Expo is coming Feb 2,3, 2002 at Puyallup Fair Grounds. The club will
have a booth again. It has been suggested that the membership renewal form also
have a block for selection of mowing assignment. This would make it easier to
get the mowing schedule filled out for the season. Those unable to mow would not
need to do so.
Old Business
The parking lot fence project is yet to be completed. There was some discussion
that the fence project should be reevaluated for cost vs benefit. It was decided
to put off the implementation of the parking lot fencing until March 2002. The
flag pole project is limping along. Ted has done a great job but found out that
shipping would be more than the pole for a single piece unit. A sectional, put
together, flag pole kit was ordered from Brutzmans and is on back order. Field
improvements yet to be done this year are running of electrical to the shade
shelter, an engine test stand and some signage.
The meeting was adjourned at 1955 hrs. Ted Tanasse brought his Aresti kit for us to look at, looks like a good airplane. Ted is hoping to actually win some pattern events this next with his new airplane, good luck Ted.
