Nov. '01 MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson

President Gordon Anderson called the monthly meeting of the Tri-City R/C Modelers Club to order at 1900 hours. The minutes of the previous meeting, as published in the "Leading Edge" club newsletter were approved as published. Rich Magnuson presented a treasurer report including the year-to-date expenses.

One of our members, Ron Wright, has recently had some serious surgery and is recovering at his daughter's home in California. We wish Ron the best in his recovery and hope he will be participating with us in the coming season.

Outstanding mention to Steve Sterling for his new, automated, high tech, razzle dazzle, web based, personalized mowing assignment system. Thanks for helping to make one of the headache parts of field maintenance a little easier.

Field Report
The mowing season has officially ended and the water will be off for the remainder of the year. Sanitary water is turned off soon so bring your own drinking water when you come to the field.

Event Report
The polar bear fly will happen again Jan 1st, 2002. Each participant needs to have a valid current year 2002 membership to participate.

New Business
Election of officers for year 2002 was completed with Pres. Gordon Anderson, VP Dave Phipps, Sec. Doug Larson and Treasurer Rick Magnuson. Looking forward to another good year. The annual banquet is set for Jan 12, 2002, location will again be Roy's Western Smorgy. Northwest Expo is coming Feb 2,3, 2002 at Puyallup Fair Grounds. The club will have a booth again. The raffle will provide for award of a park flyer or equal at the Expo plus a raffle for the biplane donated by Charlie Main to be awarded at the biplane flyin event in August, 2002. Raffle tickets will be $1 each or 6 for $5.

There was considerable discussion about the request of some members of the local glider club who wish to join our club and use the field for aero tow activities. There were concerns about length of flight times, frequency sharing and impact on existing field use. Review of club rules is pending. The general conclusion was to allow them to join the Tri-|City Radio Control Modelers Club.

Member and current VP Jerry Wallis suggested that donation of past issues of the Model Aviation magazine to doctor office waiting rooms may be a good way to promote the hobby. Good idea Jerry.

Old Business
The parking lot fence project is on hold until March, 2002. The flag pole has arrived and plans are being made for the installation. Field improvements done recently are application of a second coat of stain/sealer to the shade shelter and install of carpet storage behind the shed. Other field improvements yet to be planned and implemented are extension of electrical to the shelter, install of some signs and install of an engine test stand.

The meeting was adjourned at 1955 hrs.
