MAY
'01 MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson
Held at Country Squire Clubhouse, May 16, 2001
The regularly scheduled meeting of the TCRCM was called to order at 7pm on the third Wednesday of May, the 16th , by President Gordon Anderson. The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as published in the MAY ą01 Leading Edge Newsletter. A financial report was presented by Treasurer Rick Magnuson and current club membership is 78 members, up from 75 reported last month.
New Members- we have some new members but they were not in attendance, thus not introduced.
Field Report The May Fun Fly was well attended, exceptionally nice weather for this event. The shade shelter was stained and sealed after some of the rough posts were sanded a little to remove slivers. Thanks for the help with that project. A first aid kit is now at the field. It is stored in the metal shed on the wood shelf in the back. If anyone uses parts of it please let club presidency know so replacement materials may be obtained. It was decided to have a field assessment meeting done this coming Saturday to determine status of the grass and watering etc. Meeting was held and will be reported next club meeting. Encouraged mowing to take place after 4pm on Fridays so mid day flying is not interrupted. Dog presence (animal not airplane) at the field is allowed as long as they are on leash and the owner cleans up after them. Barking dogs must be removed by the owner. ORV park dog policy existence unknown at this time.
Water Buffalo Float Plane Fly In set for May 26th at either Batemen Island or at Edison Street area across from the duck pond.
New Business ARC event scheduled for August 3rd, please plan to be there to support our special guests. Bring old RC magazines for distribution and buddy boxes and trainer cords as you have them. Field maintenance, except mowing, will be lead by Dave Phipps. Mower maintenance will be done by Doug Larson. Any issues related to this please discuss with them or bring it up at the club meetings. The shade structure is first priority for people, especially on busy days, airplanes should not be set up under the structure. If shade is needed for the airplanes the pilot should bring his own umbrella etc. and be sure it is anchored well so the wind wonąt loosen it to damage other airplanes etc.
Old Business Painting of the sprinkler risers and staining of shade shelter have been completed. A second coat of stain and sealer may be applied at the end of the season for winter weather conditions. Revision of sprinklers to support the shelter is still in determination stage Extension of electrical to the shade structure is pending. Storage shelf in metal shed is done.
Instructor Program suggested instructor work shops and that students keep a student log book which will allow each instructor to post notes for reference by another instructor.
Safety - A safety watch is
recommended when the field is crowded to assist during engine start-up
activities and during flying. Watch the prop line and try to keep
spectators from excessive exposure to risk Pilot or safety watch call
intentions when landing, walking on the runway etc. stay in flight blocks
while flying. Check tightness of spinner bolt, if it is loose the prop nut
is probably loose and dangerous.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
Show & Tell Roger Brown brought a model steam tractor, actually Sterling Engine, he completely machined out of bar stock aluminum, an excellent work. Gordon Anderson brought a biplane skillfully built by his father, museum quality, uncovered, very well done.
Suggestion for Frequency Control at
the field: A sign on the fence between the pit area and the runway
"Frequency Control, Your Personal Protection" and then put a
Frequency Control sign on the door of the frequency control cabinet. -End
