MAY
'00 MEETING MINUTES
By Jerry Wallis for Rick Magnuson
The meeting called to order by President Ron Gibby at 7 pm. The previous meeting’s Minutes were approved as written in the newsletter.
Arless Swenson is our newest member and we welcome him. Also Fred Stong is again in the club.
He is one of the club founders and I am glad he is back. We now have 66 paid members.
Again another thanks to Bill Greger for the club fun fly also thanks to George Vargo, Don Erdman and Charlie Main for their help. There were 13 contestants with 3 from our club. The event did not start until 9:30 or 10 due to high winds.
Clee read the Treasurer’s report, and quickly amended it (one senior member had paid too much).
Power to the field was discussed; the city is about to put paving chips from a resurfacing project on the parking lot in the near future. We need to lay the conduit before they begin.
Fred Fisher will run the Big Bird Fly in on June 10th. This should be fun so dust off those big planes and bring those cameras.
Bill Greger discussed the ARC event to be held on Friday July 21st. It was suggested we have a static display of airplanes. Anyone interested in displaying his or her beautiful model get in touch with Bill. Also we need as many club members there as possible to help. Bill was going to also look into pilot pins or ribbons for the ARC people who fly.
A new location for a backup site for float flying was proposed and discussed. Several have flown there and say it is neat. Directions will be posted as soon as someone puts it on the Web.
The mowing was discussed and if anyone has any questions please contact Rob or Terry. It seems the wrong area was mowed. Remember to engage the blades and lower the deck. It does little good to just run the mower back and forth and not cut anything. Also if you cannot mow that week get in touch with Rob Opgenorth, as we do have several members that can cut in a pinch.
