MARCH 2005 MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson

7:00 PM
Ted Tanasse House
March 17, 2005

Attendees: Ted Tanasse, Monte Stratton, George Vargo, Bruce Davis, Gordon Anderson, Fred Fisher, Doug Larson, Dennis Cone, Lyle Laughery, Bill Bowen, Linda Sterling and Steve Sterling.

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm by President Dennis Cone. A treasury report from Fred Fisher and meeting minutes of the last meeting were approved as published in the Leading Edge. Location of the meetings was discussed since there had been some discussion about using the Parkade Hobbies store but decided against it. Reviewed using an EMSL conference room as had been done in the past and decided to do that.

Old Business: Water application at the field. The ORV Park is to become privatized except our field which is under a renewed 5 year lease to the City of Richland. Park privatization is not expected to have a negative affect on our flying field facilities. Attendees discussed improving the restroom facilities at the field. Any new restroom may need to be ADA compliant which may be expensive to implement. Steve Sterling provided some initial conceptual design and cost estimate for an emergency watering system using sanitary water to water the runway only. A motion was approved to implement the emergency watering plan. Once that is complete there will be some effort in seeding or otherwise restoring the runway areas damaged by lack of water in previous years.

New Business: George Vargo presented the proposal for the helicopter fun fly. A suggestion was made to reconfirm with the City of Richland the reserved dates for the event because there had been some experience with date commitments evaporating. Motor home camping in the parking lot is subject to overnight camping fee which is thought to be a nominal $4 or so. There is a raffle planned for the upcoming pattern contest. Patrick O’Neal is a new CD. The Big Bird Event needs a CD. Gordon Anderson agreed to be the field safety officer.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
