MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson
President Gordon Anderson called the monthly meeting of the Tri-City R/C Modelers Club to order at 1900 hours, March 20, 2002. The minutes of the previous meeting, as published in the "Leading Edge" club newsletter were approved as published. The "Leading Edge" newsletter published from the "Ted Shed" was good as usual, thanks Ted. Rich Magnuson presented a treasurer report. Club membership is reported at 59.
Field Report
The sanitary water has been turned on at the field and the parched grass under
the shelter has been watered. Discussed how and when to roll the grass, no
definite conclusion, defer to the expertise of our grass guru, Dave Phipps.
Reminder to sign up for a couple of turns mowing this season, consult the web
site. Signs will be posted to restrict "park flyer" use to the flying
field only, ORV Park approval obtained. The mowers have been serviced for the
new season, bearings replaced, new blades, starter solenoid in the pit mower and
oil and filters changed. Check the oil level before each use.
New Business
Steve Sterling has accepted the position of "Head Instructor" for the
club flight instruction program. Thanks Steve.
There is a Bateman Island cleanup activity coming which the club membership is invited to support. This is a good community event which can help us become more well known. Gordon Anderson also is participating in support of a robot building activity at local schools. Donations are solicited for airplane wheels and servos.
Old Business
Acceptance of helicopter rules was proposed, a motion made and carried. The
helicopter rules will be edited somewhat for correct format to be placed in the
official club rules. The latest version of club rules will be included in the
next newsletter. ARC event is coming again this year. The parking lot fence was
discussed again and there did not seem to be a clear benefit to installing. The
concept has been tabled until a more cost effective benefit is identified. The
use of the outdoor toilet by motorcycle users was discussed and the conclusion
seemed to be that the extra it may cost the club, $20 or so, is a way to give
back to the community for our use of city land and water for the flying field.
Field Safety
The safety line was discussed and is established at the near edge of the runway
for flight patterns. The safety fence is the line between the pit area and the
flight stations.
The meeting was adjourned at 1955 hrs.
