JULY '99
MEETING MINUTES
By Rick Magnuson
Vice President Paul Beebe called the meeting to order. There were 12 members present.
Paul thanked George Vargo and Bill Greger for the successful float plane event. Paul also thanked Bill Greger for heading up another ARC event. Paul also thanked those that assisted with the ARC
event. Bill Greger reported that the ARC event went very well with only the ultra lights unable to take part due to high winds. The balance of money $120, donations less expenses, was given to ARC. Bill, with the assistance of John Hanson, will write a letter to the Tri-City Herald editor thanking the donors for their assistance with the ARC event.
Continuing with thanks, Paul thanked Dennis Cone for the pattern contest that had about 25 contestants. Helping Dennis was his gracious wife Linda, Larry Mitchell and Bill Greger.
From a Frank Hirsch suggestion, Junior Kinnaman has provided two magnets at the ORV field to be used to located metal parts "misplaced" in the grass. One magnet is in the shed and the other is on one of the canopy legs.
The June minutes, prepared by Jerry Wallis, were approved as published in The Leading Edge. Clee Childress gave the Treasurers report.
John Hanson gave a brief review of the upcoming biplane event. John could use some assistance with getting sub sandwiches. Also, John will be putting on an optional touch-n-go contest and could use some help in judging the contest. John has prizes for first and second place and asked for a motion for purchase a gallon of fuel for third place. Terry Hane made a motion to buy a gallon of fuel. The motion passed.
John Hanson reported that Charlie Main is still in Spokane, but should be back in the area in a few days.
Other area events were briefly mentioned. There was some mention of another float plane event in September and one at Aires Junction.
As part of the Pattern Contest, Dennis Cone purchased some extension cords to reach the power panel from the field. This supplied electricity for the scorekeepers PC. The cost of the cords was covered by the event proceeds.
It was pointed out that at the beginning of the year there was a lot of talk about RC combat, but nothing has yet happened.
Terry Hane pointed out that if the grass at the ORV field looks dry and crunchy, to call Dennis Cone right away. Dennis is our contact person with the City of Richland. Dennis will contact the appropriate city employee to correct any water condition. Dennis home number is 943-5773 and his work number is 942-7472 or 948-3826. The water is scheduled to go on at 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Gordon Anderson reported that his son Chris soloed on July 6th. Way to go Chris!!
Monty Stratton asked for clarification about locking the outer gate. The outer gate can be left unlocked, given that it does not really serve the purpose of keeping people out. The inner gate MUST be locked whenever theres a paid event going on at the ORV Park, the Park is closed (Fridays and holidays) and when there is no TCRCM member at the field, i.e., last man out lock the inner gate. Remember to spin the lock wheels to preclude giving out the combination.
Paul Beebe related his recent trip to Deer Park near Spokane to see a jet fly in. Paul was very impressed with the new turbine power planes.
The meeting was adjourned.
