JULY
2000 MEETING MINUTES
By Rick Magnuson
President Ron Gibby called the meeting to order with 20 members present.
President Ron gave thanks to Bill Greger for CD'ing the June Float Plane Fly-In and to George Vargo’s daughter, Mary, for serving lunch with George Vargo donating the food – thanks George! Dennis Cone was thanked for another successful Pattern meet. Linda Cone was assisted by Ted Tanasse and Jerry Wallis in keeping the pattern flyers well fed. A big thanks was given to Monte Stratton for updating the ORV field’s bulletin board and to WebMaster Steve Sterling for redoing the Club’s listbot. There is now an official Club area for Club business and a R/C listbot for general use that is not Club sanctioned.
President Ron noted that Ted Tanasse has joined the ranks of soloed pilots.
The June meeting minutes were approved as published in The Leading Edge.
There was no Treasurer’s report as the Treasurer was unable to attend the meeting, but President Ron had some summary financial information to share.
Bill Greger reported that the Float Plane Fly-In had a good turnout of 17 flyers and a lot of spectators watching.
Bill Bowen reported that there were 18 or so flyers at the pattern meet. TCRCM members again gave a solid performance at the ORV meet just as they did at the Othello meet.
Due to high winds, Bill Bowen’s trailer awning was destroyed. It was agreed to pay Bill’s insurance deductible as an expense of running the meet.
It was noted that since the major area fire, the wind is causing problems with blowing ash and dirt.
The Washtucna event, while not an official Club activity, has a good showing of Club members. The members had a good time being in a parade and putting on a flying demonstration in a tight air space at a school athletic field. A member of a Ritzville Wheat Land Community Fair was at Washtunca and was impressed. She asked if the Club could put on a similar show at the Fair on August 31st. No action was taken and it was noted that flying conditions at the Fair might present safety problems.
There was discussion on replacement of the sun shield cover. Last month Terry Hane suggested that the cover be replaced. Ron Gibby has looked around but so far has been unable to find a replacement at a reasonable cost. Efforts will continue to obtain a cover.
Bill Greger gave an update on the July 21st ARC event. All items are covered, except that the privy needs to be serviced. After some discussion, Ron Gibby will call Clee Childress and have the privy serviced the next day after the meeting, i.e., Thursday.
Electrical conduit has been installed under the parking lot thanks to Dennis Cone.
New locks will be purchased, as the current locks are worn and hard to open and close.
Gordon Anderson showed off his scratch-built Hornet. Gordon said that this was the easiest scratch- built plane as the designer did an excellent job. And Gordon did his usual excellent job in building the plane.
The meeting was adjourned.
