'00 MEETING MINUTES
By Rick Magnuson
(Ed. Note: although the January ‘00 meeting was really the TCRCM winter banquet, Rick Magnuson was kind enough to record the goings-on for the rest of us...)
The annual banquet had 50 members, guests and friends attending. After dinner, a Club business meeting was held.
President Ron Gibby opened the meeting by introducing the officers for 2000: President Ron Gibby, Vice-President Jerry Wallis, Treasurer Clee Childress and Secretary Rick Magnuson. President Gibby recognized and thanked Paul Beebe for his vice-presidency last year.
President Gibby also gave thanks to Newsletter Editor Bob McDougall and Web Master Steve Sterling for their efforts last year. Also, he thanked them for their work in putting the Club newsletter on the TCRCM web site, saving over $100 in paper, printing and postage.
A summary of the past year’s activity was given: new agreement with the City of Richland, changes to the By-laws, the updated 5 year plan, the storage building – with thanks to Larry Mitchell and Lee Brooks for getting the building erected - exploring options of providing electrical power to the field – thanks to Rob Opgenorth for the study, the decommissioning of the Finley field – under the leadership of John Hanson – successful fun flys and contests, the special event for the ARC – under the direction of Bill Greger and a successful raffle due to the efforts of Larry and, rest in peace, Cathy Mitchell and Don Hall.
Next 2000 goals were given: finalize the 2000 contest schedule, update the 5 year plan, a more formal instructor program and review the By-laws.
Bill "Pete" Peterson, filling in for the recovering from a medical procedure Rob Opgenorth gave a solo certificates to Brian Bond, and Gordon Anderson gave one to his son Chris, noting that there are now 3 generations of Andersons flying.
John Hanson explained that the Bent Prop Award has been retired since this is a new Millennium, and a new "award" has been created for the next Millennium. The new award is the Clyde Crush Cup Award. The first honored recipient was Bill Greger.
Jerry Wallis talked about the All Season award with 14 people on the list as having flown at least once during every month of the year.
Ron reported that 31 brave flyers flew at the Polar Bear fly-in on January 1st, 2000.
The white elephant gift exchange took place.
Bill Greger and Gordon Anderson showed and explained a new airplane that will be used for racing. It’s an inexpensive and easy to build plane with a kit price of $65 which includes the engine.
The meeting was adjourned.
