MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson
President Gordon Anderson called the monthly meeting of the Tri-City R/C Modelers Club to order at 1900 hours.
New club members Frederico DeVoe and Don Freeman were introduced.
The minutes of the previous meeting, as published in the "Leading Edge" club newsletter were approved as published. Rich Magnuson presented a treasurer report: $8150 balance in the club treasury plus $2200 in the mower replacement fund. Club membership is reported at 53.
Puyallup Model Expo was well attended and our club booth turned a $364 profit this year. The biplane donated by Charlie Main for the raffle was no doubt a contributor to the popularity of our raffle this year. Appreciate Larry Mitchell and Bill Peterson and the others who helped to run the booth this year. The winner of the raffle prize awarded at Puyallup was Martin Hoppe of Seattle. He builds for sale a V Tail version of the Quickie 500. He may be contacted at 206-999-5299. Acknowledgement to Sheldon Hobbies who gave us a $100 discount on the price purchased for the expo. Ticket sales for t he biplane will continue until the August biplane fly in.
Field Report
The grass under the shade shelter is in really tough shape from lack of water.
This part of the grass field doesn't get any of the winter rain. As soon as
practical the sanitary water will be turned on so the grass under the shelter
can be watered. Considering installing a concrete pad under the shelter if the
grass does not recover.
Safety concerned expressed about non-club members flying park flyers at the ORV park. This could cause significant loss and possibly injury in the event of radio channel duplication. Considering posting warning signs "No RC flying except at the designated flying field" or something similar to that.
New Business
Field visitors/guests are still limited to 2 guest visits per year unless
participating in a scheduled event. A guest register is proposed to be installed
in the frequency board cabinet. The club bylaws will be reviewed by the club
executive committee for compliance with recent AMA recommendations. Dave Phipps
agreed to continue as mow boss and leader of grass health and feeding.
Old Business
The parking lot fence project is on hold until March, 2002. Review of helicopter
rules.
The meeting was adjourned at 1955 hrs.
Helicopter Rules January 15, 2002
This set of guidelines has been adopted by the Tri-City R/C Modelers to support model airplane and helicopter flying at the ORV field. These guidelines are to be enforced by the field marshal depending on the usage of the field. In congested times, these guidelines will be enforced, if you have any questions about when to enforce these rules please consult one of the field marshals or any club officer.
1. The ORV park field is primarily an air plane
field and that Heli pilots need to go out of our way to fit in with the plane
pilots.
2. There should be no lingering over the runway because its intended use is for
taking off and landing of r/c planes. (Lingering includes more then 4 touch and
goes per tank off fuel. Prolonged hovering except what's needed for taking off
and landing , and pass after pass of low fly bye's .)
3. If a Heli pilot is flying the same type of pattern as the plane pilots no
problem.
4. Install a hover pad at the East End of the field near the storage shed. 3D
type Heli flying will be beyond out past the Heli pad east of the shed. And
south of the line of flight. No one parks out there any way.
5. See included map hopefully that will help see what I mean. 6. I don't see
this as a safety issue but as a general club rule or a courteous rule.
The Heli pad needs be only up to 20 feet ether round or square club choice and does not need special mowing. You can chalk an outline and that will be just fine.
