FEB. '01 MEETING MINUTES

President Gordon Anderson opened the meeting at 1900 Hrs. Visitor Brian Keelean was welcomed and introduced himself. He indicated he was interested in participating in the club and main interest is helicopters. The published minutes of the last meeting (banquet) were approved as published in the "Leading Edge."

A treasury report was given by Rick Magnuson. TCRCM Club population is presently numbered at fifty six.

A report of the club booth at the Puyallup Swap Meet and Trade Show was given by Larry Mitchell. The show was a little off this year, fewer vendors and booths and the club raffle did not do as well as previous years.

The user ticket system initiated at the ORV flying field was reviewed by President Gordon Anderson with discussion from the attendees. The user ticket system is a way the city staff have of knowing the actual usage at the field. Subsequent contact with the city staff indicates they feel the field is well used. A suggestion box is planned to be installed by President Gordon Anderson for member input to club functions etc. There was significant discussion about the servicing, or lack thereof, for the field sanitary station. John Hansen arranged for a single service because it was sorely needed. The existing service contract will be investigated. A list of field closure dates will be brought to the next meeting, there are probably only two and they are likely to be on Sundays.

There was no Water Buffalo report this meeting. There should be a good one for the next meeting or so the rumor goes.
The condominium association assures the continued use of the clubhouse and they indicated they would appreciate a few minor improvements to the facility. It has been suggested that a few trees could be planted and a concrete wheelchair ramp installed. These are projects that will be discussed for this year.

A revision of the 5 year plan is coming in the near future. Discussion of some club assignments e.g. head instructor and mow boss. Rob Opgenorth indicated he would continue in those roles. Field marshall and safety officer will continue to be Larry Mitchell. A new mow schedule will be posted soon. Terry Hane, who has faithfully serviced the mowers for quite a few years, will do so this year. If anyone is interested in helping Terry it will be appreciated. The portable weather cover will be retained for events, especially the ARC event, a new fabric cover or tarp will be purchased.

There was considerable discussion about prizes for scheduled events, pro and con. A motion was presented to allow $100 from club funds to cover for under recovery of expenses at the two scheduled events where prizes are purchased. The two events are the "Fun Fly" and "Final Fling." The motion was seconded and passed.

Anyone who qualifies for the "All Season" patch should contact Jerry Wallis for award. All season qualification is flying at least once every month of the year.

AMA is looking for locations to sponsor public events to help introduce the hobby to others in the community, especially younger people. EAA also has a youth promotion program they call "Young Eagles."

Fred Fisher indicated the AMA sanction for the "Big Bird" flyin was received. Rob Opgenorth reported on "Real Flight" simulator improvements. March 3rd is the Barons |Swap & Shop in Spokane, WA.

Water base polyurethane as a substitute for epoxy or polyester resin was discussed. President Gordon Anderson reminded attendees of the AMA requirement to have owner identification inside RC aircraft.

Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be 3/21/01 at the Country Squire clubhouse.
