MEETING MINUTES
By Rick Magnuson
President Ron Gibby called the meeting to order. There were 13 members present.
Ron congratulated Don Hall for 4th in Sportsman at the Portland Scale Masters Qualifier. Larry Mitchell served as Dons crew chief. Bob McDougall took 3rd in the National Monokote Design contest. Bob covered Rob Opgenorths Giles 202 and it was displayed at the May meeting - Beautiful! The Clubs pattern flyers did well at Eugene with Terry Hanes first in Masters, Bill Bowen and Rob Opgenorth taking 1st and 2nd in Advanced and Brett Bowen 2nd in Intermediate.
The July minutes were approved as published in The Leading Edge. Clee Childress gave the Treasurers report.
President Gibby gave the reminder that Contest Directors need to provide the Treasurer with clear records of an events income and expenses. On occasion, it is difficult to determine if the fees are appropriate and if the Club has paid the City of Richland the fees as outline with our agreement with the City.
John Hanson gave a brief review of the upcoming biplane event. All is set to go.
Besides the Final Fling Fun Fly on October 2, there will be another Float Fun Fly on October 9th.
President Gibby reviewed the rules that must be followed with the ORV gates. Ron has verified these rules with the City. Both gates must be locked when no one is at the field. When the field is being used, the outer gate can be left open; the inner gate can only be left open when the ORV park is also open. Since the ORV park schedule frequently changes, the current months schedule is posted on the bulletin board. Rob Opgenorth will also arrange to have the schedule posted on the inner gate. The lock tumblers must be rolled so not to reveal the combination. When locking up, our lock must in series or daisy chained with the Citys lock so that the City may open the gate using the City lock. Verify that the locks are in fact locked by tugging on the shackle. The last person out MUST lock all gates.
Ron Gibby pointed out that no one should make any changes to operations without informing the President of the intent and to allow discussion at a Club meeting.
John Hanson will head up the cleanup and decommissioning of the Finley field. John has set September 18th as the Final Finley Field Fly In. On October 16th there will be the actual decommissioning of the field. The other local RC club may be interested in obtaining the runway belt extensions and the shed (Bob McDougall "suggested" that we tell AMA that theres a flying field available).
Rob Opgenorth brought his Meridian with which Brett Bowen made 50 touch-n-goes in a single flight! Must be a Club record, if not a national record.
Steve Sterling and Bob McDougall will be developing a District XI web page. The AMA web site now has a link with our own web page.
Steve Sterling is compiling the history of the Club. If any member has information and/or pictures related to the Clubs development, contact Steve.
The meeting was adjourned.
