APRIL 2005 MEETING MINUTES
By Doug Larson, Secretary

7:00 PM
EMSL Conference Room
April 20, 2005

Attendees: Monte Stratton, George Vargo, Gordon Anderson, Fred Fisher, Doug Larson, Dennis Cone, Lyle Laughery, Bill Bowen, Pat O’Neil and Larry Mitchell. The meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm by President Dennis Cone. A treasury report from Fred Fisher and meeting minutes of the last meeting were approved as published in the Leading Edge.

New Business: The long time newsletter editor, Ted Tanasse is requesting release from his newsletter work to allow time for another worthy family related cause. Craig Christensen is picking up this opportunity for The Leading Edge 2 April, 2005 which we are all grateful. Post AMA 2005 year safety rules at the frequency board. The ARC event is coming in July and there is significant interest by Richland and Kennewick City Officials whom we should expect to be in attendance. The Heli meet is scheduled for May 21st which will occupy the field May 20-22. A float fly is coming and interested pilots need to attend the next meeting. Plan to repair the personnel gate so it can be secured better to keep motorcycle enthusiasts from coming onto the grass. Discussed ordering some shirts with club insignia.

Old Business: Water application at the field has been consistent so far this season. The emergency watering system is still in the plans but not implemented as yet. The presentation to the Richland Cty Park Commission relative to our flying club activities and future plans went well a couple of months ago. Some of the things being discussed for implementation at the field are an engine test pad, similar to but smaller scale than Thiakol Rocket Motor Test Pads, concrete under the shade shelter, a better restroom, and possibly develop the east end of the field for helicopters. The present usage of Columbia Park for helicopters is expected to become very limited. Relocation of the SW sprinkler head to better water the runway is planned, implementation is not scheduled. A member of the City Park Commission asked about the ongoing “conflict with the other club” which is mostly rumor. We are cautioning club members to be positive and upbeat about our fellow men, especially other RC Pilots and or other club activities. The emphasis is on being a gentleman at all times. It is entirely appropriate to be a member of both clubs.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm. Recorded by club secretary Doug Larson
