APRIL
2002 MEETING MINUTES

Country Squire Clubhouse
Vice President David Phipps called the monthly meeting of the Tri-City R/C Modelers Club to order at 1900 hours. Club President, Gordon Anderson, is on business travel. Attendance was 13 members and no visitors.
The minutes of the previous meeting, as published in the "Leading Edge" club newsletter were approved as published. Rich Magnuson presented a treasurer report:. Club membership is reported at 61 memberships and 68 members.
Field Report
The mowing season has started in earnest even though the grass has had a slow
start greening up. Water was not applied until the first week of April and the
windy conditions have interfered with even distribution of the applied water.
Rolling of the grass field was discussed again. The field does not seem to need
rolling but if club member Rich Roland can arrange for the equipment he may do
it anyway. The ORV Park grounds keeper indicated he would apply extra water when
available. Some contact with the city needs to be done to coordinate the filling
of the jet boat course so we don't lose water for 8 days in a row like last
year. It was reported that there is a booster pump that can be used at times of
high demand on the watering to improve delivery. The gate locks have been
somewhat problematic and were recently cleaned by Dave Phipps and Gordon
Anderson, which seemed to improve their performance.
New Business
A president confidence vote was discussed and the only motion presented from the
body of the members present was to continue support of the current president and
the voting was unanimous and enthusiastic in the positive.
The request for $200 from club funds for the helicopter event was discussed. The club events since the 1970's have all been funded from event participant registration fees. There was not a motion presented to break from that pattern.
Combining the Big Bird and Biplane events was discussed. A motion presented to that effect was presented, seconded and approved. Fred Fisher will be the contest director.
A request to install a centerline on the runway was discussed. It was decided that maintaining any type of permanent line was impractical and possibly damaging to the grass. Damage to the grass in the center of the runway could also be damaging to the airplanes. A suggestion to install a temporary stripe with white flour on an as needed basis was made. This method would require a repeat probably each day it would be used and would require some type of equipment to apply neatly so it is effective.
Old Business
There was not any significant discussion of old business.
Field Safety
The safety rules were published in the last club newsletter.
The meeting was adjourned at 2004 hrs.
The drawing for the door prize and show and tell followed.
