APRIL
2000 MEETING MINUTES
By Rick Magnuson
Vice President Jerry Wallis called the meeting to order with 16 members present, including returning (charter) member Fred Stong.
Vice President Jerry thanked Ron McMahan (for applying fertilizer at the field) and Lee Brooks (for the installation of field signs).
The March meeting minutes was approved as published in The Leading Edge.
The event schedule for the year was briefly reviewed. It was noted that the Spring Fun Fly is on May 13, not May 11 as previously indicated. Fred Fisher will be the CD for the Big Bird Fly In. VP Jerry reminded Contest Directors to submit event sanctions.
The Treasurer’s report was given.
A discussion took place about wearing the Club membership card while at the ORV field. The pros for wearing the card were to aid in allowing proper membership verification and associating fellow Club members’ names and faces. The cons were that there are other means of verification and that some members felt it was a bit too much. There were several options presented, such as issuing 2 membership cards and hat IDs. The discussion ended with the recommendation that members be encouraged to wear the membership or an ID card.
A proposed change to the Bylaws was voted on. The proposal would change the date of when a Club membership must be obtained: from the current March 31st to January 1st. A motion made by Terry Hane, to change the Bylaws passed.
The grass-cutting schedule will be posted on the frequency board. Also, The Leading Edge will list the current month’s schedule. The Club’s web site may also list the schedule. It was pointed out that some members took a day off to cut the grass on their assigned day only to discover that someone else had already cut the grass. If a member cuts the grass on another’s assigned day, he should notify the other party well before so to avoid lost time, money and frustration.
The question was raised as to how the garbage can is emptied. The answer is "we do." The City will not perform this service for us. We must take the garbage can to the dumpster near the go-cart track ourselves. It was suggested that this be done in conjunction with mowing of the grass if a suitable vehicle was available.
The meeting was adjourned.
