May '99 Fun Fly

We had a total of 16 entries, and the weather was, for the most part, good except for a bit of wind during the last few flights.

The events were as follows:

1: The Timed Dice Roll: Pilot rolled two dice, the first number determined what maneuver and the second number, how many of that maneuver were required. Score was based on total time to execute the maneuvers and land safely.

2: Touch and Go by Chance: Helper draws a card to determine which of 5 landing zones must be hit, with 5 attempts scored. No points for the wrong zone.

3: Execute 3 maneuvers, touch down and break a balloon, take off and execute 3 more maneuvers. Points based on spot landing and total time.

When all the dust (and balsa fragments) had settled, the results were as follows:

Noteworthy items: "Fireracer5" finished ahead of "Paternjock" (8th vs. 10th place), and rumor has it that Ron McMahan’s 2nd place finish gave him such a swelled head that both gates had to be opened to let him out!
