Dave Armstrong Memorial (D.A.M.) Contest
RCFCBC Field, Cloverdale, B.C.
Written by Gordon Anderson
The Dave Armstrong Memorial Contest was held May 21st
and 22nd at the RCFCBC field in Canada near Cloverdale.
They have a nice grass field and it’s only a few miles north of
the border. Last year my wife and I attended this event and really
enjoyed ourselves. So we were excited that it was our first
event of the 2005 season. The contest had 24 pilots with about
even distribution across all classes including FAI.
The weather was pretty challenging and the CD Amar
Shan did a great job of keeping things moving to make sure we completed
4 rounds on Saturday. This was a pretty good idea because
Sunday’s weather was too windy to support two more rounds of
competition! Amar awarded the trophies and we headed home early
Sunday morning.

first contest!
The Canadian Expert schedule has been renamed to Masters and is the
same as the US routine except for the Reverse Avalanche maneuver. In
the Canadian routing this is two loops with ˝ rolls at the bottom.
This is a pretty minor difference, having the sequences similar
sure supports cross border competition!

Dave Reaville will be reporting all the details so I will not give
you all the standings. I would just like to thank Amar and all our
friends in Canada for there hospitality, we always feel welcome and have
a great time at these events. We are going to attend Dave’s
contest in Victoria this season for the first time.
See you in the pits…
