Agenda

  • Events: Pattern Meet is now scheduled for September 18-19, 2010. The event was moved from the Fourth of July weekend due to hot summer temperature. Polar Bear, spring, and fall fun flies are still the club's main events. Dates for all but Polar Bear are TBD, although spring fun fly is in May and fall fun fly in September.

Survey will ask membership if potlucks would be desirable and attended. The ARC Fun Day is not as yet scheduled by The ARC of the Tri-Cities but is normally late July or early August. A club volunteer is needed to be an interface (point of contact) with Bill Greger and ARC staff and also send out the press releases to the news media.

  • Membership: There is a need to increase our membership and several ideas were discussed. Scott Schering has volunteered to be the newsletter editor along with his Treasurer duties. Poster in Hobbytown with Lyle Laughery volunteering to do the layout and Bill Bowen to get assembled. Flying magazines with club info label was also discussed and will be evolved further with the board. Club business cards that were started by Jerry Wallis will be evaluated by Doug Larson as to status. The club tri-fold that was in draft form a few years back will also be checked into by Bill Bowen. Hobbytown will also give club members 10% off on most non-sale items by showing a current club membership card.
  • Field Care and Maintenance: Watering system is working satisfactorily, but there is a need to install a few large pop-up sprinklers on the east end of the field and perhaps the west end also to prevent the overfly area from drying out. Weed control is a challenge and Doug Larson will continue to contact Spring Green to obtain a quote for all weed control. Thatching of the overfly is needed but an industrial thatcher is needed. Ideas are requested from the membership. We have a volunteer to conduct mower maintenance. A volunteer signup mowing schedule will be utilized.
  • Club Meeting Attendance: This is a continuing challenge. A survey will be installed on the web site to determine what the membership would like to see. The MAA uses a call list reminder for their meetings.
  • City of Richland and ORV Park: Interface with Doug leading the charge has worked well and the new officers agreed to work with Doug to learn the interface.
  • Site Improvement: A potential helicopter area is still being discussed. More to come. Survey will include this topic
  • Instructor Program: More instructors are needed along with the use of some form of a syllabus that can be used for reference as the student progresses.
