Next Club Meeting May 16th, 7pm at Rosie's Diner. 404 Bradley Blvd, Richland just off Geo. Wash Way. We need your participation in steering the club through 2012.

Just another memo to update behind the scenes events for general club awareness.
First of all I had a great few hours flying my Patty Wagstaff Extra 300s this afternoon even though the wind was kind of gusty. While I was there I noticed that the grass was looking a little dry and felt a little crunchy in some areas. Did a test of the big sprinklers and discovered low pressure. HRMC had run the west jeep
track sprinklers on Saturday because I remember seeing them on. Apparently the control valve didn't close properly for whatever reason and when our sprinklers would run the jeep track circuit would also pass
water and the additional water taken by the jeep track reduced our delivery pressure down to about 30 psi per the gauge I read during the test.
Our delivery pressure needs to be at least 85 psi for the system to work properly. I was able to borrow a valve key from the HRMC gal who was there, she was very helpful by the way. I managed to close the isolation valve in spite of the silt build up in the gate slot by cycling the closure a bunch of times to wash out enough of the silt to stop the flow of water.
I changed the watering to every day now for a while to overcome the water loss of the previous days. The grass still looks great but a few more days of low pressure would not have been good. The silt build up was caused by the silt filter up near the landfull freezing up a few winters ago and was not replaced for several
years. In the meantime the filter was bypassed and the silt came on through and settled in the lines and valves. The filter has since been replaced but the silt has already come through. Some time the lines
will probably need to be opened and flushed and if that will do the job I'm not sure.
Also, the gal at HRMC said she gets quite a few inquiries from customers about the flying field so I think I'll print up some of those magazine stickers but on regular paper and cut out and give her to pass out when asked about it.
Remember our Spring Fling is Memorial Day, this coming Monday, May 25th. Free fly with pot luck lunch, that means bring food if you want to eat. I'll bring some burgers and buns but probably not as many as last time.
The runway and pit was mowed last weekend by someone(s) and they did a great job, thanks a bunch. The runway mower should start better now with a new battery.
