2001 (5th Annual) Bi-Plane Fly-In

We really lucked out with the weather. Forecast for Friday and Saturday was 10-20 mph winds. Saturday morning dawned with a break in the recent Tri-City high temperatures with just a light breeze. Although the Fly-In didn't officially start until 9:00am, by 7:30 everything was set up and there was a good group of RC pilots already assembling their biplanes. Everyone was thinking the same thing, "Let's get flying before the wind starts up."

Winds stayed light and variable the entire morning. Just after lunch, they started to pipe up to around 10 mph, but still very fly-able for most.

As expected, John Hanson did a great job CD'ing the event. What a bargain...$10 landing fee included prizes and food and a whole day of fun. The prizes were great... and plenty for everyone.

Bob Pratt was the king of the bi-plane aerobatics with his Saito twin-powered Ultimate.

Nothing like a good knife-edge to wow the crowd.

Jim Reynolds had his Balsa USA Phaeton 90.
