TCRCM Biplane Fly-in Report
by John Hanson
The 2nd Annual TCRCM Biplane Fly In was held in great (read that somewhat cool for an August day) weather. Sixteen pilots registered and there were about twenty airplanes flown. (Thanks to the out-of-towners for attending. Hope to see you again next year!)
Gordon Anderson displayed a beautiful large scale, museum quality 1930s era bipe built by his dad. I wish I had the patience for such craftsmanship. Bruce Harlow put on his usual outstanding flying demonstration with his large scale bipe and Ron Page and Bruce finally got the engine dialed in and Ron got in some significant time on his giant Aeromaster. Hubie Wendt (Barons of Spokane) had the major mishap of the day and it turned out to be rather superficial - couple of hours work at the most to bend things back into shape. (I will send Hubie a Best Crash Certificate to commemorate the occasion).
However, it was not clear how much damage the Spokane visitors' wives inflicted on their airplane allowances when they turned them loose on the Tri-City malls!! The wives said they got lost but I noticed the back end of the car was sagging from what was probably loot from the malls!!
Thanks to all who pitched in to help with registration, transmitter impound, and lunch fetching. Thanks respectively, to Fred Fisher, Charlie Main, and Rick Magnuson.
All in all, it was a good day with lots of flying.

"...It flies! It flies!!!"
The above photo proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Tenacious Bumblebee award for this month should go to John Hanson. Although a bit blurry, it is in fact proof that certain objects DO fly, in spite of their stubborn efforts to remain forever ground-bound. Yes, its true... Johns famous Corsair did, in fact, break free from the surly bonds of earth for just a few brief moments on this recent momentous occasion.
Congratulations, John, for refusing to give up in spite of the overpowering consensus that heavy metal warbirds should normally be relegated to the same category as doorstops and paperweights!
