1999 ANNUAL OFFICER INSTALLATION BANQUET

As you know, each TCRCM year starts off with a special dinner meeting at which the newly elected Officers are officially recognized and installed. This meeting also includes the presentation of various awards and certificates, the most worthy of which is the coveted "Bent Prop’ semi-perpetual trophy.

This year’s banquet will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 6PM, at Roy’s Western Smorgy near the corner of Columbia Center and Columbia Drive (next to Chuck e. Cheese Pizza in Columbia Center North.)

Once again, the meeting will incude a ‘white elephant’ gift exchange (if you bring one, put it in the stack, and you’re then elegible to pick a diffferent one).

Other planned highlights include the presentation of Solo certificates, a brief review of the past year, and plans for the coming year.

No need to sign up ahead of time; just show up, go thru the line and grab your plateful of food, and go to the banquat room. Once the munching has subsided, the formal meeting will begin. Dinner will cost you roughly $7.00 a person, plus or minus, and the meeting festivities are free. If you have questions, contact Bill Greger at 735-3877.

(Are these guys crazy, or what??)

As you may recall, last January 1st was the date of the very first TCRCM Polar Bear Fun-fly. It proved to be such a rousing success (with 56 entries!) that we’ve decided to make it an annual event. Consequently, on January 1st this year once again, you are hereby invited to brave the elements and dust off your aircraft (or at least take ‘em out of hibernation) and come on out to the ORV site for our 2nd Annual Polar Bear Fun-fly.

Our CD will be the indomitable Bill Greger. Bill requests that you give him a call to let him know of your intentions to participate... Bill says that there will be no formal events, just a chance to enjoy a day of flying and find out which of your clubmates are also crazy enough to show up. (I have, however, heard a rumor from the ranks that there may be a bit of informal racing going on... Hmmmmm...)

Last year really wasn’t much of a test of our ability to withstand the usual January weather; I have a hunch that this year’s event will be a bit more of a challenge. Be sure to have your woolies handy, and somebody bring along a bit of ether for those engines that haven’t been exposed to a climate which may just be a long ways from last year’s balmy conditions!

The most important thing to remember about this event: It falls on the very first day of ‘99, and you know what THAT means: if you haven’t renewed your ‘99 AMA and TCRCM memberships, you will NOT be allowed to fly! Just one more very good reason for renewing NOW!
